Beard Growth and Maintenance Guide
Understanding Beard Growth
Patience is Key! Beard growth varies from person to person. It can take several weeks to a few months for your beard to fill in and reach its full potential. Avoid trimming or shaping too early; give it time to grow.
Age Matters
Hormones play a huge role in hair growth. Teens and young adults may find that it takes longer for their facial hair to grow. Older gents naturally lose hair as they age. Hair does become finer also as we age, so your beard may not be as full as it once was.
Genetics Matter
At Titan Bull, we always say that we can help you on your beard journey by providing you with high quality products to optimise your skin and hair follicles, but…your genetic makeup plays a significant role in beard growth. Some men may have patchy spots or slower growth, but with proper care and following our proven method, you can maximise your beard’s potential.
NEW TO THE BEARD GAME?
Here’s how to start on your beard growing journey!
Preparing for Beard Growth
Cleanse Your Skin. Start with a clean face. Wash your face with a gentle cleanser to remove dirt and oils. This helps create a healthy environment for beard growth.
Exfoliate Regularly
Exfoliating your skin 1-2 times a week helps remove dead skin cells and unclog pores, promoting healthier hair growth. Our Coffee Scrub can be used on your face but keep it away from your eyes.
Growing Your Beard
Let It Grow!!! Resist the urge to trim or shape your beard in the early stages. Allow your beard to grow out fully for at least 4-6 weeks to see its natural growth pattern.
Maintain a Healthy Diet
Eat a balanced diet rich in vitamins and minerals. Foods high in protein, biotin, vitamins A, C, and E, and omega-3 fatty acids support hair growth. Put it this way, your car won’t run without the right fuel and your beard won’t reach its full potential when your system is out of whack.
Caring for Your Beard
Wash Your Beard.
Use a beard-specific shampoo 2-3 times a week. This helps keep your beard clean without stripping it of natural oils. Using bar soap and shampoo designed for your head will dry your skin out, resulting in a dry, itchy and flaky beard.
Moisturise, moisturise and moisturise!
Apply beard oil daily to keep your beard soft and hydrated. This prevents dryness and itching, and it makes grooming easier. See our beard care routine at the bottom of this page which has helped countless men achieve the results they had hoped for.
Comb or Brush
Use a beard comb or brush daily to detangle your beard, distribute natural oils, and reduce frizz. A boar bristle brush is ideal for distributing oils and exfoliating the skin underneath. At Titan Bull Australia, we do not recommend using a metal comb as these can rip the hair right off of your chin. Wood is best! You can see our range of combs and brushes here.
Trimming and Shaping
Choose the Right Tools
Invest in high-quality beard scissors or a trimmer with adjustable settings. Trim your beard when it’s dry to avoid uneven cuts.
Trim Regularly
Trim your beard every few weeks to maintain its shape and remove split ends. Start with a longer guard and gradually trim to your desired length. If you’re not confident doing it yourself, have a barber do it for you.
Shape Your Beard
Define the neckline and cheek line based on your face shape. For a clean look, trim the edges along the jawline and below the chin.
Dealing with Common Issues
Itchiness
Itchiness is common in the early stages of growth. To soothe your skin, use beard oil, beard butter or balm to keep it moisturised. Exfoliating can also help reduce irritation. We have developed a tried, tested and proven beard care routine. Keep reading! It’s at the bottom of this page.
Patchiness
If you have patchy areas, focus on keeping your beard well-groomed and healthy. Beard oils and hydrating moisturisers like our beard butter can help to get your skin reach its optimum condition for growth, but remember that your genetics play a part.
Maintaining Beard Health
Stay Hydrated! Drink plenty of water to keep your skin and beard hydrated from within.
Avoid Stress. We know, We know…this is not always possible but high stress levels can affect hair growth and testosterone. Engage in activities that help you relax and manage stress effectively. Remember fellas, self care isn’t just for the ladies!

The Titan Bull Australia Beard Care Routine
This beard care routine has been developed by Ben after trialling many different recommendations seen elsewhere. We stand by this routine as it has helped Ben and so many of our customers achieve the beard of their dreams.
Morning
Beard Oil
Apply your beard oil. Use the dropper to dispense 2-3 drops around your beard to begin with. The amount will vary for different beard lengths and you can determine how much you need.
Try to angle your dropper through the hair so that it reaches your skin. Using your finger tips, massage the oil into the skin beneath your beard from your cheeks, all the way down to underneath your chin.
Beard Balm
Scoop a pea size amount of beard balm from the jar and rub between your hands. Your body’s heat will soften the balm naturally. Using your palms and fingers, apply our beard balm to your beard in a downward motion. Titan Bull Australia’s Beard Balm has been designed to be light weight, yet able to provide your beard with adequate hold regardless of your beard length. Your beard will not feel stiff or crunchy and won’t look or feel greasy. Instead, it will have a healthy shine.
Style
Use our comb or brush to style your beard however you like!
Now stand back and admire your handywork!
Evening
Cleanse
Wash your beard fellas! Remember that sausage roll you ate at lunch? There’s probably sauce, pastry and all sorts of things in your beard.
Using a beard specific cleanser, wash your beard in the shower with warm (NOT HOT) water. Hot water will dry your skin out. We recommend using our beard scrubbers. Not only do these help to effectively loosen dirt and grime, they help to stimulate the hair follicles underneath.
Dry
Dry your beard with a hair dryer on a cool setting. Again…high heat is damaging!
In a downward motion, use one hand to hold the hair dryer, and the other to comb through your beard. When your beard is wet, we do not recommend using a comb or brush as wet hair is naturally at higher risk of damage. Using a comb on a wet beard encourages breakage. Your fingers are enough.
Beard Oil
Apply your beard oil as you did earlier in the day. You can use a brush or comb to help distribute the oil if necessary.
Beard Butter
Our beard butter has been especially crafted to be non greasy! Yep, you read that right…NON GREASY! No one wants to feel like they’ve dipped their beard in a chip fryer! Titan Bull Australia’s beard butter will provide you with a deeper level of hydration and nourishment.
Scoop a small amount of our beard butter out of the jar. Rub between your palms. Just like with our balms, the heat from your hands will soften the butter. Smooth right through your beard making sure to reach the skin underneath.
You can style with your comb or brush to finish off.
Follow this process daily to keep your beard and the skin beneath in tip-top condition. Healthy skin means a healthy beard.
