How it all began
People start a new business for a variety of reasons. Sometimes, the idea of financial freedom is appealing, or perhaps they want a better work life balance. Could it be that they want to be their own boss, or have greater flexibility…Sure!
For us, the idea to turn our passion into our second careers stemmed from many things. We have been crafting our own skin care products for such a long time and we believe in them so much that we wanted to share them with fellow Aussies like us.
We both have incredibly sensitive skin. There comes a point where you almost feel like giving up when you have tried every product that says it will help, but never really does.
Giving up isn’t in our nature, so we set out on a mission to learn everything we could about common skin sensitivities, ingredients, processes and more. Now we’re not talking about medical skin conditions like psoriasis etc, but more general sensitivities and what can cause skin irritations.
Abbey is particularly sensitive to fragrance. From our research, we knew that, as with all ingredients, there are skin safe levels of fragrance. Abbey isn’t a fan of cream based moisturisers which is why we tried body butter. When we first started creating our body butters, we made them completely fragrance free. Great…No reactions! Ever the boundary pusher, Abb wanted to try a little fragrance. We started small and gradually built this up to recommended skin safe levels. Lo and behold… still no reactions!!
Ben had tried many beard and skin care products over the years and still had the dreaded beardruff. Finding the right combination and balance was crucial. So began the science experiments! We trialled many different oil blends and conducted thorough testing. We documented our findings and played around until we finally found the combination that worked! Well before deciding to take our dream further, we called on family and friends of all ages and skin types to try our products.
Now, we don’t want to blow our own tooters, but we had absolutely no negative feedback!! In fact, it was quite the opposite. We decided it was best to ask people to try our products who didn’t know us. While we adore our family and friends, we wanted impartial feedback to be sure we were on the right track. After some time, the feedback began rolling in and once again, it was all positive.
We continued to refine our formulas and our passion only grew stronger. We knew we had created something special and we both had a burning desire to share this with the world.
The decision to dive in and turn this into a business was scary and exciting all at the same time. We love working together! Both of us have different skill sets, and just like our ingredients, we compliment each other perfectly.
So while we are still working our regular day jobs, and juggling parenting, housework, renovations and life in general, Titan Bull is coming to life! We have been attending local markets and have customers returning every time. The reviews on our Facebook page are incredible and only motivate us to keep going. The hours are long, but we love what we do and we can’t wait to see what the future holds!
